MAMI hosted its second annual Mix and Mingle at the Manitoba Legislature April 24. Many familiar faces, as well as new ones, members, partner organizations, public servants and government representatives including Premier Wab Kinew, and Natural Resources Minster Jamie Moses plus the MAMI board were on hand for the second annual networking reception. Minister Moses brought greetings on behalf of the government.
Earlier in the day, Minister Moses and Environment Minister Tracy Schmidt met with the MAMI board to discuss opportunities and challenges in the mining industry.
MAMI president Stacy Kennedy had this to say about the meeting, “Manitoba is privileged to have an open government that has been willing to hear our vision for the industry and we’re looking forward to building the future of mining in our province together. She added,” This community and government support are our most powerful assets, working together to solve unique challenges, to advance mining and to ensure prosperity for our communities and province as a whole.”
At the Mix & Mingle long serving board and mine rescue member Richard Trudeau was recognized with a lifetime achievement award.
In receiving his award, Richard said, “I would like to thank MAMI for this award. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as a Mine Rescuer and MAMI Board member in the province.” Richard concluded by saying, “The mine rescue community of men and women will always have a special place in my heart, and I will always have fond memories of the times we were together for competitions.”
Richard will be retiring in July.
